From Humble Beginnings to Industry Leadership

The story of Royal Flush & Back Bay Boxes began with two hardworking brothers, Jason and Greg, from the Pungo community in Virginia Beach. Their journey into the waste management industry was born out of necessity and ambition. After spending long hours at the Ford plant in Norfolk, the brothers found themselves at a crossroads when the plant shut down and relocated. Faced with this sudden change, Jason and Greg saw an opportunity to reinvent themselves and their careers. They began their entrepreneurial journey in the dump trailer business, quickly learning the ropes and gaining valuable experience in waste management.

As their knowledge and expertise grew, so did their business ambitions. The brothers decided to expand into the roll-off dumpster industry, launching what is now known as Back Bay Boxes. With a commitment to providing reliable and efficient waste disposal solutions, they quickly gained a reputation for their high-quality service and dedication to customer satisfaction. Over time, the business diversified, including ventures into demolition and land clearing. However, when the opportunity arose to purchase a portable toilet business called Royal Flush, Jason and Greg decided to narrow their focus. They sold off their demolition and land-clearing equipment to concentrate on what they did best—providing top-notch roll-off dumpster rentals and portable sanitation services.

Building a Legacy in Waste Management

For the next 25 years, Royal Flush and Back Bay Boxes flourished under the careful stewardship of Jason and Greg. The brothers divided their responsibilities, with Jason specializing in portable toilets and Greg focusing on the roll-off dumpster side of the business. Through their hard work, determination, and a relentless commitment to quality, the business grew beyond their wildest dreams. Back Bay Boxes became synonymous with reliability and excellence in the roll-off dumpster rental industry, serving a diverse range of clients, from construction companies to homeowners tackling large-scale projects.

While Jason and Greg were building their business in Virginia, another pair of brothers, Bryan and Jameson, were making their mark in the waste management industry on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. As the owners and operators of Atlantic OBX Inc., Bryan and Jameson were continuing the legacy of their grandfather’s sanitation company. Their paths crossed with the Pungo brothers when they saw an opportunity to expand their own business by acquiring Royal Flush and Back Bay Boxes.

After a year of thoughtful negotiations and many discussions over lunch at 3 Amigos Mexican Restaurant in Chesapeake, the two pairs of brothers reached an agreement. On March 1st, 2024, Bryan and Jameson took over Royal Flush and Back Bay Boxes, with a shared vision of continuing to grow the business and honor the foundation that Jason and Greg had built. Greg has stayed on full-time as Senior Operations Manager to ensure a seamless transition, while Jason now provides part-time consulting as he pursues a career in real estate.
